Our Story
Founded by farmers, for farmers — in 1922
Washington County Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company was founded in Fayetteville by a group of local farmers and community members in March of 1922, to give rural residents of Northwest Arkansas a way to obtain fire insurance coverage.
In 1924, Northwest Arkansas Farmers Mutual Tornado Insurance Company was formed to provide windstorm coverage to those same residents. The two companies operated jointly until they merged in 2009 under the Washington County Farmers Mutual Insurance banner, as it is known today.
